Texas Tea is an IGT slot machine about striking oil, hosted by a cartoon tycoon named Texas Ted. It has been in American casinos for many years, and plenty of players remember the map of Texas filling with oil derricks. The demo on this page is the online version of that game, free to play.
It is a small game by modern standards, with 5 reels and only 9 paylines. There are no free spins. Instead there are two cash bonuses: the Oil Dividend, where Ted writes you a check, and the Big Oil Bonus, where you place derricks on the map and collect what they pump.

How Texas Tea Works
The reels are 5 columns by 3 rows with 9 paylines. A payline is a fixed path across the reels, and wins pay from left to right starting at reel 1. With every line active at the lowest coin value, a spin costs 0.09 credits. The highest listed bet is about 270 credits per spin.
The game has no wild symbol, so every line win needs real matching symbols. The Texas Tea logo is the best one, and five on a line pay 10,000 times the line bet. Two other symbols run the bonuses. Texas Ted is a scatter, which counts anywhere on screen, and the Oil Derrick has to land on a payline.
The top RTP setting is 96.2%. RTP is the share of all bets a slot pays back over time, and one source reports that casinos can set this game as low as 87.5%. Volatility, which describes how often and how big a game pays, is low. Wins are frequent and mostly small.
Texas Tea Bonus Features
Oil Dividend Bonus
Three or more Texas Ted symbols anywhere on the reels trigger it. Ted writes a check for a multiple of your total bet. Three scatters pay between 3x and 25x, four pay 8x to 50x, and five pay 20x to 100x.
Big Oil Bonus
Three or more Oil Derrick symbols on an active payline, starting from the left, open a map of Texas split into eight regions. You get one derrick for each triggering symbol and place each in a different region.
Big Oil Payout
Once the derricks are placed, each one pumps oil and its prize counter climbs until the well runs dry. The totals from all your derricks are added together and multiplied by the line bet of the triggering spin.
More Texas Tea Versions to Play Free
Fort Knox Texas Tea is the other version available here. It takes the Texas Tea theme and adds IGT’s Fort Knox bonus, a feature shared by the Fort Knox series that awards jackpot prizes on top of the regular game. Its pay table and RTP are not the same as the original 9-line Texas Tea, so check the help screen before you compare the two.
Good to Know Before You Play
- There are no free spins in Texas Tea. Both bonuses pay a cash amount and return you to the reels.
- Oil Derricks must be on a payline you are betting on. Playing fewer than 9 lines lowers your chance of the Big Oil Bonus.
- In the Big Oil Bonus you can place only one derrick in each of the eight regions on the map.
- RTP settings for this game cover a wide range. In a casino, the help screen shows which one is in use.
