Bonanza is a gold mining slot from Big Time Gaming, released in December 2016. It is one of the best-known games built on the Megaways system, and many sites now list it as Bonanza Megaways. It is an online game, not a casino cabinet. The demo on this page is free to play.
Bonanza looks different from a standard slot. It has 6 reels, and each reel shows a different number of symbols on every spin. Mine carts roll across the top and add more symbols. Wins set off chain reactions, and the free spins come with a multiplier that goes up with each one.

How Bonanza Works
There are 6 reels, and each one holds between 2 and 7 symbols on any spin. A row of mine carts above the four middle reels adds one more symbol to each of them. The game has no paylines. You win when the same symbol appears on neighboring reels starting from reel 1, in any position.
This is the Megaways system. The number of ways to win changes on every spin with the reel heights, up to a maximum of 117,649. The symbols are gems and card ranks. A bundle of dynamite is the wild, which replaces everything except the scatters. The scatters are four letters: G, O, L and D.
The RTP is 96%. RTP is the share of all bets a slot pays back over a very long time. Volatility, meaning how often and how big a game pays, is high. Long runs with small returns are normal, and most of the big results come from the free spins. Bets start at 0.20 credits per spin.
Bonanza Bonus Features
Reactions
Every win triggers a reaction. The winning symbols explode and are removed, and new symbols drop into the reels and slide in on the carts. If that creates a new win, it reacts again. All of it happens on one bet.
Free Spins
Land the four scatters that spell GOLD in one spin to win 12 free spins. Each extra scatter in view on the triggering spin adds 5 more spins to the starting total.
Unlimited Win Multiplier
A win multiplier is added in the free spins. It goes up by 1 after every reaction, it has no upper limit, and it does not reset between spins. Late in a long round, each win can be multiplied many times over.
Extra Spins in the Bonus
During free spins, more scatters can land. Three of them add 5 more free spins, and four add 10. The extra spins carry on with the multiplier you have already built up.
Good to Know Before You Play
- You need all four letters, G, O, L and D, in the same spin. Three letters is a frequent near miss and pays nothing.
- There are no paylines to choose. One bet covers every way the reels offer on that spin.
- This is a high-volatility game. In free play you may go through many spins before the bonus appears.
- The rising multiplier only exists in the free spins. Reactions in the base game pay at their normal value.
