Cash Eruption is an IGT slot that mixes old fruit machine symbols with a volcano theme. It has become one of the most played games in US online casinos and has grown into a series with many spin-offs. The demo on this page is the original Cash Eruption, with 5 reels and 20 paylines, and it is free to play.
The feature most players know it for is the fireball bonus. Six or more fireballs lock on the screen, you get three respins, and every new fireball resets the count. There is also a Fire Goddess wild that can expand to fill a reel, and a free spins round with one giant symbol across the middle.

How Cash Eruption Works
The game uses 5 reels and 3 rows with 20 fixed paylines. A payline is a set path across the reels. Line wins must run on consecutive reels starting from the left, and only the highest win on each line is paid. Bets run from 0.20 to 40 credits per spin.
The regular symbols are classic ones such as fruit and red sevens. The Fire Goddess is the wild. She replaces everything except the Fireball and the Volcano, and when she lands on reels 2 to 5 she can stretch to cover the whole reel if that creates a win. Volcanoes are the scatter symbols for free spins, and Fireballs carry cash prizes or jackpot names.
The RTP, the share of all bets a slot pays back over time, depends on the setting. Sources list up to 96%, with a lowest setting of 93.1%. Volatility is rated medium to high, which means the bonus rounds account for a large part of what the game pays. One source lists the top win at 1,000 times the bet.
Cash Eruption Bonus Features
Cash Eruption Bonus
Six or more Fireballs in one spin lock in place and award 3 respins. Each new Fireball also locks and resets the count to 3. When the respins run out, all the prize values on the locked Fireballs are added up and paid.
Jackpots
A Fireball can show Mini, Minor or Major instead of a cash value. One source lists these at 5, 25 and 100 times the bet. Filling all 15 positions with Fireballs pays the Grand Treasure, a fixed amount that does not rise with your bet.
Free Spins Bonus
Three, four or five Volcano scatters pay 2, 15 or 100 times the total bet and award 6 free spins. In the round, reels 2, 3 and 4 are linked and show one giant 3 by 3 symbol. A giant Volcano adds 3 spins, up to 15 per bonus.
Expanding Wilds
When a Fire Goddess wild lands on reel 2, 3, 4 or 5, she can expand up and down to fill the reel after the spin. She only does this when the expansion would produce a win.
More Cash Eruption Versions to Play Free
All the Cash Eruption spin-offs keep the 5 by 3 grid, 20 paylines and the fireball respin bonus, then change the theme and the numbers. One comparison lists Cash Eruption Vegas at 94.42% RTP with low volatility, Triple Cash Eruption at 94.30%, Hoggin Cash at 96.25% and Power Surge at 96.42%. Hephaestus and Fa Cai Shu sit at 96%. Cash Eruption MegaJackpots has the lowest listed RTP, at 92.5%. The Western is another themed version.
Good to Know Before You Play
- The fireball bonus can also start inside the free spins, when a Fireball lands on the linked middle reels as a giant symbol.
- The Grand Treasure is a fixed prize, set by the game. Betting more per spin does not make it any bigger.
- Six fireballs in one spin are needed to start the bonus in the base game. Any fewer will not trigger it.
- This is the first Cash Eruption. The spin-offs listed on this page share the fireball idea but have different numbers.
